Klay Thompson Makes NBA History On Monday Night

Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson had a historic first-half performance against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.

Stephen Curry is the greatest three-point shooter of all-time, there really is no argument against that, but right behind him may just be Klay Thompson, Curry's long-time teammate and a future Hall-of-Famer in his own right.

The Golden State Warriors were in action on Monday night, hosting the Phoenix Suns, and Thompson had himself a historic first-half.

When Klay gets going from behind the three-point line, he begins to score in bunches and he did just that against Phoenix, recording 33 points on 12-18 shooting, including eight made threes!

This marked Thompson's fifth career 30-point half and his 10th 30-point game of the season. In addition, this was Thompson's third career half with at least 30 points and eight made threes, tying Damian Lillard for the most by any player over the last 25 seasons (ESPN Stats and Info).

His first half performance also marked the fifth time in Thompson's career that he has made at least eight threes in a half, the most by any player since at least 1996-97.

For his career, this was the 35th time that Klay Thompson has scored at least 35 points in a game and when he does so, the Golden State Warriors are 32-3 as a team, according to StatMuse

One of the purest shooting strokes in league history, Thompson can really get going at any minute and on Monday night, the Suns were the latest casualties.

Following this victory over Phoenix, Golden State is now 36-33 on the season, tied with the Los Angeles Clippers for the 5-seed in the Western Conference.

They will have a chance to separate themselves from the Clippers in their next game on Wednesday night, as the two teams will play one another in Los Angeles.
