Warriors' Stephen Curry Gives Update On Andrew Wiggins' Absence From Team

Following Saturday night's victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry gave an update on Andrew Wiggins' absence from the team.

Since their February 13 victory over the Washington Wizards, the Golden State Warriors have gone 6-5, including a massive overtime victory at home over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday evening.

During this span, the Warriors have been without All-Star forward Andrew Wiggins, who is not with the team due to a personal family matter.

Wiggins is a key part of the Warriors core and he proved to be a massive reason why they won their fourth championship in the last eight seasons a year ago.

No updates have really been given on Wiggins other than that the team is giving him the proper space he needs to figure things out and settle his personal matter. Warriors' GM Bob Myers talked about Wiggins earlier this month, as did head coach Steve Kerr recently

Following their game on Saturday night against the Bucks, Stephen Curry addressed the media about Wiggins' absence.

"Friend-to-friend, teammate-to-teammate, I am just sending him support," Curry said, via Anthony Slater. "This is a tough situation in terms of him being away for so long, but necessary. Life is bigger than basketball and whatever him and his family are going through, that's all that matters. Whenever he's ready to come back, I am sure he will. I know he's missing the vibe of being with us and we miss him too."

Curry also went on to say that the team continues to support Wiggins as he remains away from the team and that he will return when he is ready to come back.

Playing in 37 games this season, Wiggins has averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting a career-high 39.6 percent from three-point range.

Agreeing to a four-year, $109 million contract extension this past offseason, Wiggins will be under contract with Golden State through the 2025-26 season before having the option to become a free agent ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Currently 35-33 on the season, the Warriors are the 6-seed in the Western Conference, but only 0.5 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the 5-seed and 2.5 games behind the Phoenix Suns for the 4-seed.

Golden State will take on Phoenix in their next game on Monday night in San Francisco.
