Ja Morant's Viral Post On X Before Mavs-Grizzlies Game
On Monday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies will host Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in Tennessee.
The Grizzlies are playing their 22nd straight game without their best player, as Ja Morant was suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 NBA season.
However, Morant is close to returning and will be eligible to play on Tuesday, December 19, when the Grizzlies visit Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans.
Before Monday's showdown with the Mavs, Morant sent out a post on X.
His post had over 17,000 likes in less than two hours.
Morant wrote: "return soon ⏳™️ 8 days 4 games 🐻"
Morant is coming off a season where he appeared in 61 games and had averages of 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 46.6% from the field and 30.7% from the three-point range.
He led the Grizzlies to the second seed in the Western Conference for the second consecutive season, but they lost to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in six games).
As for the Grizzlies this season, they have gotten off to a poor start without Morant.
Currently, they are the 13th seed in the Western Conference with a 6-15 record in their first 21 games.
Following the Mavs, the Grizzlies will play their next game on Wednesday evening when they visit Jalen Green and the Houston Rockets in Texas.
The Grizzlies have made the NBA playoffs in each of the previous three seasons.
