On Monday evening, the Boston Celtics were eliminated from the 2023 NBA Playoffs when they lost Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals by a score of 103-84 (on their home floor in Boston).

They had come back from an 0-3 deficit but could not close out the series.

During the first play of the game, All-Star forward Jayson Tatum hurt his ankle, but he stayed in the game and finished the night with 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one steal in 42 minutes of playing time (he shot 5/13 from the field and 1/4 from the three-point range).

With Tatum banged up, the Celtics' other All-Star forward (Jaylen Brown) was unable to step up.

The former Cal star finished the game with 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks in 43 minutes.

However, he shot just 8/23 from the field and 1/9 from the three-point range (and had eight turnovers).

After the game, Brown met with the media and was extremely honest.

Brown: "We failed. I failed. We let the whole city down."

Brown has been in the NBA for seven seasons and has already been to the Conference Finals five times.

That said, the Celtics have only made the NBA Finals one time in that span (and have yet to win the title since 2008).

The 26-year-old had an excellent regular season with averages of 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 49.1% from the field.
