On Friday evening, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics hosted the Denver Nuggets in Massachusetts.

The game was a thriller, but the Nuggets were able to win by a score of 102-100.

With less than 20 seconds left, Tatum missed a layup that would have given the Celtics a 102-101 lead.

In addition, the All-Star forward missed a mid-range jump shot that would have tied the game as time expired.

After the loss, Tatum was asked about the final play and gave an honest reaction (h/t Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).

Tatum: "I think I kind of rushed it, and that's on me. In the back of my mind, I wasn't sure if they were gonna foul. They had a foul to give, but I had more time than I gave myself. I shoulda took some more time, but can't go back, so something I can learn from."

Tatum finished the night with 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one steal while shooting 9/24 from the field and 1/8 from the three-point range in 39 minutes of playing time.

With the loss, the Celtics dropped to 32-10 in their first 42 games, which still has them as the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

They also had their three-game winning streak and perfect 20-0 record at home come to an end.

Following the Nuggets, the Celtics will face off against the Houston Rockets on Sunday in Texas.

As for the Nuggets, they improved to 29-14 in their first 43 games, which has them as the third seed in the Western Conference.
