Jayson Tatum Made Boston Celtics History Against Clippers

Jayson Tatum reached a career milestone.

On Saturday evening, the Boston Celtics are hosting the Los Angeles Clippers in Massachusetts.

During the game, Jayson Tatum achieved an impressive career milestone by scoring his 11,000th career point.

The former Duke star is the 14th player in Celtics history to reach 11,000 points.

The other 13 players are Antoine Walker, Tom Heinsohn, Bill Sharman, Jo Jo White, Dave Cowens, Bill Russell, Sam Jones, Bob Cousy, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Larry Bird, Paul Pierce and John Havlicek.

Tatum also made NBA history by becoming one of the youngest players to score 11,000 points.

Via Dick Lipe of NBC Sports: "Tatum’s first basket tonight gave him 11,000 career points. He’s the 14th Celtic to reach that mark and just the 7th NBA player to do so before his 26th birthday."

The All-Star forward came into the evening with averages of 27.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field and 36.2% from the three-point range in 42 games.

He has led the Celtics to an excellent start to the season, as they are the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-10 record in their first 45 games.

They are in the middle of a three-game winning streak and have gone 7-3 over their last ten games.

Tatum was the third pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Duke and has been with Boston for his entire seven-year career.

They have made the Eastern Conference Finals four times in that span.
