Jayson Tatum Made Boston Celtics History Against Wizards

Jayson Tatum moved up on the team's all-time assists list.

On Friday evening, the Boston Celtics hosted the Washington Wizards in Massachusetts.

The Wizards fought hard, but the Celtics were able to come away with a 133-129 victory.

All-Star forward Jayson Tatum led the way with 35 points, ten rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two blocks while shooting 12/22 from the field and 3/10 from the three-point range in 38 minutes of playing time.

He also made team history during the game by moving ahead of Hall of Famer Kevin McHale (1,670) for 20th on the Celtics' all-time assists list

Following McHale, the next player for Tatum to pass will be Hall of Famer Robert Parish (1,679).

Tatum is known as one of the best scorers in the NBA, but he has also been a capable playmaker and has averaged at least 4.3 assists per contest in each of the previous four seasons.

With the victory, the Celtics improved to 40-12 in 52 games, which has them as the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

They are in the middle of a three-game winning streak and are 8-2 over their last ten games.

Following the Wizards, the Celtics will travel to Florida for a matchup with Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon.

Tatum was the third pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Duke and is in his seventh season in the league.

His career averages are 22.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 46.0% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range.
