Klay Thompson Made A Head-Scratching Decision In Clippers-Warriors Game

The Warriors lost to the Clippers.

On Wednesday evening, the Golden State Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 130-125.

The Warriors went into the fourth quarter with an 11-point lead but lost the final 12 minutes by a score of 44-28.

With less than 40 seconds left, the Warriors trailed 126-123, and Klay Thompson made a mistake by fouling Russell Westbrook and sending him to the free-throw line.

If the Warriors had stopped the Clippers (instead of fouling), they could have had the ball with 15 seconds (or more) and only trailed by one possession.

Instead, Westbrook made both free throws to extend the lead to five.

After the game, head coach Steve Kerr was asked about what happened (h/t Warriors on NBCS).

Reporter: "It looked like you did not want the foul when Klay committed the foul."

Kerr: "Yeah, we didn't want to foul. We're down 3 with 38 seconds. So it's an obvious defend and just play it out, and get a rebound and then it's a one-possession game."

Thompson finished his night with 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block while shooting 4/14 from the field and 1/9 from the three-point range in 30 minutes of playing time.

With the loss, the Warriors had their five-game winning streak snapped and they dropped to 26-26 in 52 games, which has them as the tenth seed in the Western Conference.

They will play the second night of a back-to-back on Thursday evening against the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
