Knicks And Pacers Officially Complete Trade

The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have officially completed a trade.

Obi Toppin was one of the best college basketball players in the nation, coming out of Dayton in 2020.

He was selected with the eighth pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks and has spent the first three years of his career with the franchise.

This past year, the 25-year-old averaged 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field and 34.4% from the three-point range in 68 regular season games.

On Friday, the Knicks officially completed a trade that sends Toppin to the Indiana Pacers.

Via Knicks PR on Friday: "New York Knicks announced today that the team has traded Obi Toppin to Indiana in exchange for two future second round draft picks."

Toppin has career averages of 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 49.2% from the field and 32.5% from the three-point range in 201 regular season games.

He has also helped the Knicks make the NBA Playoffs in two out of the previous three seasons.

Since he is still young, Toppin could end up being a significant addition to the Pacers.

The Pacers are a young team that has been in rebuilding mode for the previous two seasons.

That said, they were competitive for the first half of the 2022-23 season despite finishing as the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-47 record.

They have an intriguing roster that features All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton and veterans Buddy Hield and Myles Turner.
