On Friday evening, NBA free agency began, and players all over the league are agreeing to new contracts.

Arguably the best player on the market (Kyrie Irving) will be staying put and re-signing with the Dallas Mavericks (according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium).

Via Charania: "Free agent Kyrie Irving has agreed to a three-year, $126 million contract to return to the Dallas Mavericks, with a player option in third season, @TheAthletic @Stadium learned."

Following the news, Irving sent out a tweet and his post had over 8,500 likes and 350,000 impressions in less than 90 minutes.

Irving tweeted: "Big Shoutout to

My Agent Shetellia Riley Irving

and

My business manager Drederick Irving,

who did a great job throughout the whole entire process.

Thank you

Irving began the 2022-23 NBA season with the Brooklyn Nets and was traded to the Mavs in February.

With Luka Doncic, he helped form one of the best duos in the league, but the team struggled and finished as the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 38-44 record.

They missed the NBA Playoffs and the play-in tournament.

That said, joining a team in the middle of the season is not always easy, so playing together for an entire year could lead to much better results.

Irving finished the year with sensational averages of 27.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.

In addition to the Mavs and Nets, the former Duke star has also played for the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
