Los Angeles Lakers Make A Roster Move On Monday Night

On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers assigned rookie guard Max Christie to the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League.

Losing three of their last five games, the Los Angeles Lakers have once again dropped down in the Western Conference standings, this time to 11th place in the conference following wins by the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night.

With ten games left on their schedule, the Lakers have very little room for error, as every win from here on out will be a big win and every loss will hurt just a little more.

Still just 1.5 games back of the 6-seed in the conference, the Lakers could potentially avoid the Play-In Tournament and make the playoffs, they could have to fight for a spot in the playoffs via the Play-In Tournament, or they may just wind up missing the postseason altogether.

Time will tell what the future holds for Los Angeles, but on Monday night, the team made a quick roster adjustment, as they once again assigned rookie guard Max Christie to the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League.

Christie, who has played in 38 games for the Lakers this season, has spent quite of a bit of time in the G League this season, as the organization is looking to get him added practice time and in-game reps when he is not with the NBA roster.

In his last G League game with South Bay on March 11, Christie scored 18 points on 8-17 shooting in 35 total minutes of play. He also recorded seven rebounds and four assists.

With the South Bay Lakers having a home game against the Oklahoma City Blue on Tuesday night, the G League affiliates of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Max Christie will likely play in another game to work on his development.

In the NBA this season, Christie has averaged 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in about 13.3 minutes per game. He has not seen double-digit minutes in a game though since February 9.

Regardless if he play in Tuesday's game for the South Bay Lakers, Max Christie will likely be recalled by the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of their matchup on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.
