Jerry West's Quote About Steph Curry Went Viral
Steph Curry is one of the ten best basketball players in the history of the NBA.
The four-time NBA Champion is also widely seen as the greatest shooter ever.
However, he is not considered an elite defender.
That said, Hall of Famer Jerry West made an appearance on Paul George's podcast (Podcast P with Paul George) and shared a fascinating quote about Curry that is going viral.
West on Curry via George's podcast: "He's a better all-around player than he gets credit for. When you watch him now, at one time, I didn't think he was a good defender. I think he's a terrific defender."
That's high praise from West (who was a five-time All-Defensive Player) and something to note since he played in an era where the defensive side of the ball was more emphasized.
As for Curry, he finished off another stellar year with averages of 29.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists per contest while shooting 49.3% from the field and 42.7% from the three-point range.
The Golden State Warriors won the NBA Championship in 2022 but were unable to defend their title and lost in the second round of the Playoffs to the Los Angeles Lakers (in six games).
They defeated the Sacramento Kings in the first round, and Curry had 50 points in Game 7.
As for West, the 14-time NBA All-Star helped the Lakers win the 1972 NBA Championship.
He currently works for the Los Angeles Clippers and was with the Warriors front office from 2011-17.
