Los Angeles Lakers Reportedly Sign Intriguing Player

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Los Angeles Lakers are signing Cam Reddish.

On Friday evening, free agency around the NBA began, and teams were able to agree to contracts with players.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Los Angeles Lakers are going to sign former tenth-overall pick Cam Reddish.

Via Charania: "Free agent Cam Reddish has agreed to a two-year deal with the Lakers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium."

Reddish was seen as a player with star potential when he was in high school and college.

After one season at Duke, he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2019 NBA Draft and spent his first two and half seasons with the franchise.

Following the Hawks, Reddish played for the New York Knicks (and most recently, the Portland Trail Blazers).

Last year, the 23-year-old averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field in 40 games for the Knicks and Trail Blazers.

The Lakers are coming off a very impressive season where they had a massive turnaround.

During the middle of the season, the Lakers were the 13th seed in the Western Conference, but they were able to finish as the seventh seed and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in tournament.

Following the Timberwolves, they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors in the first two rounds of the NBA Playoffs.

Despite getting swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, the year was a significant success.

The signing of Reddish could end up being one of the most underrated moves of the 2023 summer.
