On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers played their first game of the 2023-24 regular season against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena in Colorado.

The Nuggets dominated from the start, and while the Lakers kept it close, they still lost by a score of 119-107.

Jokic led the way with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, and LeBron James had 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Lakers.

Following the loss, Hall of Famer (and Lakers legend) Magic Johnson sent out four posts on X.

Johnson first post: "Tonight we learned the World Champion Denver Nuggets are going to be very tough to beat in the NBA Playoffs."

Johnson second post: "The Nuggets entire starting five scored in double figures in their 119-107 win vs. my Lakers. They were led by their MVP center Nikola Jokic, who finished with a 29 point, 13 rebound and 11 assist triple-double. He had help from Jamal Murray, who added 21 points."

Johnson third post: "The Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray pick-and-roll combination is the best in the entire league! They can do everything off the pick: shoot, pass, dribble, and drive."

Johnson fourth post: "Coach Michael Malone is the best coach in the NBA on playing to his player’s strengths. He has Aaron Gordon playing the best basketball I’ve ever seen him play, continuing last year’s Playoffs run!"

The Lakers are now 0-1 and will play their second game of the season Thursday night against the Phoenix Suns (at home).
