Memphis Grizzlies Officially Announce Signing Of Former NBA All-Star

The Memphis Grizzlies have officially signed Derrick Rose.

Derrick Rose was once among the elite players in the NBA when he played for the Chicago Bulls at the beginning of his career.

Following a series of injuries that derailed his prime, the 2011 NBA MVP did an excellent job of transforming himself into a role player.

On Monday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies officially announced that they had signed Rose.

Via Grizzles PR: "The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team signed guard Derrick Rose."

Rose has spent the past two and a half seasons playing for the New York Knicks, but this year he fell out of the rotation and only averaged 12.5 minutes of playing time per contest (and appeared in 27 games).

That said, the 34-year-old played a pivotal role in the franchise making the 2021 NBA Playoffs when he was traded via the Detroit Pistons in the middle of the season.

In addition to the Pistons, Knicks and Bulls, Rose has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers.

His career averages are a solid 17.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest while shooting 45.6% from the field and 31.5% from the three-point range in 699 regular season games (he has also played in 52 NBA Playoff games).

As for the Grizzlies, they are coming off a season where they were the second seed in the Western Conference with a 51-31 record.

However, they lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
