Miami Heat Interested In Adding NBA Champion Forward?

Shams Charania and Jason Lloyd of The Athletic reported that the Miami Heat could be a landing spot for Kevin Love.

On Wednesday night, Shams Charania and Jason Lloyd of The Athletic reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers and five-time NBA All-Star Kevin Love were "finalizing a contract buyout."

Love had been in his ninth season with the organization but recently fell out of the rotation and hasn't played since January.

The former UCLA star will go down as one of the best players to ever play for the franchise and is now going to be one of the most coveted free agents on the market.

Charania and Lloyd added that the Miami Heat could be a landing spot for the 2016 NBA Champion.

Via Charania And Lloyd's Article In The Athletic: "The Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Love are finalizing a contract buyout, with the Miami Heat expected to emerge as a suitor for the five-time All-Star should the sides finalize parting ways, league sources tell The Athletic.

Love to the Heat could end up being something that makes sense for both sides.

The 34-year-old is no longer the star he was five years ago but is still a dependable big off the bench that can rebound and shoot.

He is averaging 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest.

Currently, Love is shooting 35.4% from the three-point range, but last season he shot 39.2%.

The Heat are 28th in the league for three-point shooting (33.4%), so he could help fix that problem.

Right now, they are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference with a 32-27 record in 59 games.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel also reported on the Heat's interest in Love.

Via Winderman: "Have been told Heat are prioritizing something big over Westbrook or Beverley, after examining those options. So Love or Ibaka appear to be priorities. As of now."

The Heat are done for the All-Star break, so they won't play their next game until February 24 (against the Milwaukee Bucks in Wisconsin).
