Minnesota Timberwolves Release 4 Players

The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived four players.

The Minnesota Timberwolves played their final preseason game on Thursday evening when they defeated the Chicago Bulls (at the United Center) by a score of 114-105.

With the victory, the Timberwolves finished the preseason a perfect 4-0.

Now that the regular season is less than a week away, teams have to make roster cuts.

On Friday, the Timberwolves announced that they have waived four players.

Via Timberwolves PR: "Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has waived guards D.J. Carton, Trevor Keels, Tyrese Martin and forward Matt Ryan. The Timberwolves roster stands at 17 players."

Martin spent part of last season with the Atlanta Hawks and averaged 1.3 points per contest in 16 games.

Keels played three games for the New York Knicks and averaged 1.0 points per contest.

Ryan has played 35 games in the NBA and is coming off a year where he played for both the Los Angeles Lakers (and Timberwolves).

He averaged 3.6 points per contest while shooting 37.0% from the field and 38.1% from the three-point range.

Lastly, Carton has yet to make his NBA debut and had a solid season in the G League for the Iowa Wolves.

He averaged 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 52.9% from the field and 36.5% from the three-point range in 25 regular season games (he also appeared in 17 Showcase Cup games).

The Timberwolves will play their first game of the 2023-24 season against the Toronto Raptors on October 25 in Canada.
