NBA Champion Believes Minnesota Timberwolves Should Trade Karl-Anthony Towns

ESPN's Kendrick Perkins (who is an NBA Champion) believes that the Minnesota Timberwolves should trade Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have one of the most intriguing rosters in the NBA that features Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mike Conley.

This past season, they made the NBA Playoffs for the second year in a row but lost in the first round to the Denver Nuggets in five games.

Towns has been with the franchise for his entire eight-year career and is a three-time NBA All-Star.

ESPN's Kendrick Perkins (who is an NBA Champion) believes the team should trade its franchise cornerstone.

Perkins via ESPN's NBA today: "I believe that it's time for the Minnesota Timberwolves to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns. I said this last season. I said it this season. That franchise belongs to Anthony Edwards, and Naz Reid before he got injured, was balling out of control, fit well alongside Anthony Edwards and McDaniels."

Towns will enter the first year of a massive contract extension next season, and according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Timberwolves re-signed Naz Reid to a three-year, $42 million deal on Sunday.

While the Timberwolves have only made the NBA Playoffs three times over the past eight seasons, Towns has put up significant numbers.

His career averages are 23.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 52.6% from the field and 39.5% from the three-point range.

This past year, the former Kentucky star missed most of the season due to an injury but still averaged 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest while shooting 49.5% from the field and 36.6% from the three-point range in 29 games.
