NBA Champion Fined $75,000 For Public Trade Request

P.J. Tucker (Los Angeles Clippers) has been fined $75,000 by the NBA.

P.J. Tucker has not played in a game since November 27 and has been very vocal about his desire to leave the Los Angeles Clippers

On Thursday afternoon, the NBA announced that they had fined Tucker $75,000 for his public request to be traded.  

Via NBA Communications: "The NBA announced today that LA Clippers forward P.J. Tucker has been fined $75,000 by the NBA for public comments reported during the week of February 5 expressing a desire to be traded to another team."

Tucker has played in 15 games for the Philadelphia 76ers (and Clippers) this season. 

The former Texas star is averaging 1.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 31.6% from the field and 31.3% from the three-point range.    

He is 38 years old but coming off a year where he appeared in 75 regular season games (and 11 NBA playoff games) for Philadelphia. 

In addition to the 76ers and Clippers, Tucker has also spent time with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks over 13 seasons.  

His career averages are 6.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 42.5% from the field and 36.5% from the three-point range in 867 regular season games.  

He has also appeared in 102 playoff games (89 starts) and helped the Bucks win the 2021 NBA Championship over the Suns. 

On February 14, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Tucker would be away from the Clippers until after the All-Star Break. 

As for the Clippers, they are the third seed in the Western Conference with a 36-17 record in 53 games.
