BREAKING: Los Angeles Lakers Will Reportedly Sign NBA Champion Forward

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers are signing NBA Champion Tristan Thompson and point guard Shaquille Harrison.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers will play their final regular season game of the year when they host the Utah Jazz in Los Angeles, California.

After a slow start to the season, they have completely turned things around and are the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 42-39 record in 81 games.

Before the game, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports that the team is signing NBA Champion Tristan Thompson and veteran point guard Shaquille Harrison (they will also waive Davon Reed).

Via McMenamin: "The Lakers are signing two players today to add depth for the postseason, sources told ESPN. L.A. will sign guard Shaq Harrison, a defensive-minded point guard, and Tristan Thompson, a veteran center with playoff experience on LeBron James’ teams in Cleveland. Both players provide insurance at their positions for the roster, with L.A. having players out with injuries late in the season. The Lakers will waive Davon Reed in order to create a roster spot to add a second player."

Thompson most recently played for the Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls during the 2021-22 season.

The 32-year-old averaged 6.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest over 57 games.

He won the 2016 NBA Championship with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

As for Harrison, he has played in five games with the Portland Trail Blazers this season and has averages of 8.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.2 steals per contest.

Meanwhile, Reed appeared in eight games with the Lakers this year and averaged 1.0 points per contest.
