New York Knicks Reportedly Sign Intriguing Player

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks are signing Jacob Toppin.

On Thursday evening, the 2023 NBA Draft took place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and 58 players heard their names called to be drafted into the league.

Following the Draft, players who didn't get selected can sign on with teams as free agents.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks are signing Jacob Toppin to a two-way deal.

Via Wojnarowski: "Kentucky forward Jacob Toppin has agreed on a two-way contract with the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN. He’s the younger brother of Obi."

Toppin played four college basketball seasons (one for Rhode Island and three for Kentucky).

This past season, the 23-year-old averaged a productive 12.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest while shooting 46.3% from the field in 33 games for the Wildcats.

As for Obi, he was the eighth pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Dayton.

He has spent his entire three-year career playing for the Knicks and averaged 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field in 67 games last season.

In two out of his first three seasons, the Knicks have made the NBA Playoffs, and this past year they made the second round for the first time since the 2013 season.

The Knicks were the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round (in just five games).

However, they lost to Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the second round.
