New York Knicks Player Thinks He Will Be Traded

According to Brian Lewis of The New York Post, Evan Fournier said he believes the New York Knicks will trade him.

On Friday evening, the New York Knicks had their season come to an end when they lost to the Miami Heat in Game 6 of their second-round playoff series by a score of 96-92.

While the end of their season is a disappointment, the Knicks were one of the best surprises in the league this year.

They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, which was their first time winning a playoff series since 2013.

However, veteran forward Evan Fournier was not a participant in their success.

The 30-year-old did not make an appearance in the 2023 NBA Playoffs and finished the regular season with averages of 6.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 33.7% from the field and 30.7% from the three-point range.

According to The New York Post's Brian Lewis, Fournier believes he will be traded.

Fournier via Lewis's article“My season has been over for a very long time, actually. This officially is the end, but my season was over a long time ago,” Fournier said. “It took me a good month to understand that. At first, I was like, just be patient in seeing how the team developed. Obviously, there are gonna be changes and I’m gonna get traded."

The ten-year veteran has been a talented offensive player throughout his career and averaged 14.1 points per contest for the Knicks during the 2021-22 season.

He still has two seasons left on his deal, but the final year will be a team option.

Therefore, Fournier essentially has an expiring contract for $18.9 million next season.
