Phoenix Suns Officially Sign Recent Sacramento Kings Player

The Phoenix Suns have officially signed Chimezie Metu.

Chimezie Metu was the 49th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of USC and spent the first five seasons of his career with the Sacramento Kings.

This past year, the 26-year-old averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 58.9% from the field in 66 regular season games.

On Tuesday, the Phoenix Suns officially announced that they had signed Metu.

Last week, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the contract is for one-year.

Via Wojnarowski on June 30: "Free agent forward Chimezie Metu has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN."

Metu has career averages of 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 49.2% from the field in 209 regular season games.

Last year, he helped the Kings finish the regular season as the third seed in the Western Conference with a 48-34 record.

They made the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season and lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round (in seven games).

As for the Suns, they have been among the best teams in the NBA for the previous three seasons.

They made the NBA Finals in 2021 and had the best record in the league during the 2022 season.

This past year, the Suns were the fourth seed in the west with a 45-37 record and beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the Playoffs (in five games).

However, the Denver Nuggets eliminated them in the second round (in six games).
