Potential First-Round Pick From Duke Declares For 2023 NBA Draft

Duke freshman standout Dariq Whitehead has declared for the 2023 NBA Draft and will sign with an agent to turn pro.

Duke is known for producing some of the best NBA Draft prospects year-after-year and once again, they will have plenty of high-level prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Dariq Whitehead is another intriguing draft prospect from Duke that announced recently that he is forgoing his college eligibility by signing with an agent and entering the NBA Draft this upcoming summer.

A five-star recruit coming out of high school, Whitehead is an athletic and versatile wing that certainly has the potential to be a first-round pick and could possibly sneak into the back-end of the lottery.

At Duke, Whitehead averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42.9 percent from three-point range in 28 games. He only started in seven games for Duke this past season.

Last August, Dariq Whitehead suffered a stress fracture in his right foot and he was also dealing with an ankle sprain during his freshman year in college, which directly resulted in his overall lack of production with the Blue Devils.

Duke Basketball has plenty of high-level players in the NBA today, highlighted by the likes of Jayson Tatum, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson and recent first overall pick Paolo Banchero.

They have had at least one player selected n 12 straight NBA drafts and at least one player selected in 23 of the last 25 drafts. Duke has also had at least one freshman selected in the last nine NBA drafts.

The 2023 NBA Draft is set to take place on Thursday, June 22 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
