BREAKING: Recent Boston Celtics Player Reportedly Signing With Washington Wizards
UPDATE: The Washington Wizards have officially signed Justin Champagnie.
Last year, Justin Champagnie played in five regular-season games for the Boston Celtics (2) and Toronto Raptors (3).
He averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 33.3% from the field.
The 22-year-old also appeared in four NBA playoff games (with Boston).
On Tuesday afternoon, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Champagnie would be signing a ten-day deal with the Washington Wizards.
Via Charania: "The Washington Wizards are signing forward Justin Champagnie to a 10-day contract out of NBA G League, his agent Daniel Hazan of Hazan Sports Management tells @TheAthletic @Stadium. Champagnie has played parts of two NBA seasons and is averaging 22.3 PPG/8.9 RPG for Sioux Falls."
Champagnie has spent part of two season in the NBA and has career averages of 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range in 41 games.
The former Pitt star has been excellent in the G League and has averages of 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 49.5% from the field in 19 regular season games this year.
As for the Wizards, they have had a tough season and are currently the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 9-45 record in 54 games.
They went into the All-Star break on an eight-game losing streak.
The Wizards will return to action on Thursday evening when they visit Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in Colorado.
