Recent New York Knicks 1st-Round Pick Is Still A Free Agent

Kevin Knox, who was the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, is still a free agent.

Kevin Knox was initially the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks after one season of college basketball playing for the Kentucky Wildcats.

When Knox came out of high school, he was ranked as the tenth-best player in the class of 2017 (by ESPN).

During his one season with Kentucky, he averaged 15.6 points per contest while shooting 44.5% from the field (and had been seen as a potential All-Star).

Unfortunately, after a solid rookie season, Knox lost his spot in the starting lineup.

The 24-year-old spent three and a half seasons with New York, and this past year, he played in 63 regular season games for the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons.

Knox averaged 6.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 45.8% from the field and 34.9% from the three-point range.

This summer, he became a free agent and (on August 25) still remains available to be signed by any team in the league.

In addition to the Knicks, Trail Blazers and Pistons, Knox has also played for the Atlanta Hawks.

Over his five seasons in the league, he has career averages of 7.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 38.5% from the field and 34.2% from the three-point range in 275 regular season games (he has also appeared in three NBA playoff games).

Considering he is still so young, Knox could end up being a good pickup for many teams.

Specifically a rebuilding team that is looking to develop young talent would make sense.
