WATCH: Kings Fans Embrace Team Arriving Back In Sacramento Over The Weekend

The Sacramento Kings are heading to the playoffs for the first time since 2006 and their fans are loving it, as they met the team at the airport over the weekend to celebrate this moment.

A lot has happened in the NBA since 2006, but one thing that has remained the same was the Sacramento Kings not making the playoffs.

Well, that playoff drought is officially over, as the Kings have punched their ticket to the postseason and the city of Sacramento is loving it!

Over the weekend, hundreds of Kings fans gathered to welcome the team back home after they clinched their playoff berth during their two-game road trip in Portland and it was quite the scene.

In his first season as the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, Mike Brown has completely flipped the culture of this entire organization and this is not just a team that barely got their way into the playoffs.

The Kings are a legit threat in the Western Conference and while other teams may be overlooking them, this franchise and their talents know what they are capable of.

“Our guys are excited about it," Brown said of the team ending the organization's playoff drought. “They're excited about the way that they played and the accomplishments that they've had so far. They were excited for Keegan. But in the same breath, and not to downplay anything, they expect more.”

Speaking of rookie Keegan Murray, he recently broke the rookie record for three-pointers made in a single season and he is not even the focal point of the team. All-Stars De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are one of the best duos in the entire league given how they are able to play off one another and alongside them are key secondary talents in Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk.

This team absolutely has a chance to win a playoff series for the first time in franchise history since 2004 and the loyalty this fan base has shown them all year long is remarkable.

The scene at the airport over the weekend is just another example of the culture Kings Nation has for their team and they may just be the best fans in the entire NBA. Even play-by-play announcer Mark Jones recognized the patrons who showed up late at night to cheer on their team at the airport!

They may not be as experienced as other teams and being in the playoffs may be new to them, but if we know one thing, it is that the Kings and their fans are going to bring it every game that they have left on their schedule and in the postseason, lighting the beam is going to be the only thing on everyone’s mind in California's capital!
