Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Made NBA History In 76ers-Thunder Game

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made NBA history during Saturday's game.

On Saturday evening, the Oklahoma City Thunder are hosting the Philadelphia 76ers in Oklahoma.  

During the game, All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made NBA history by becoming the 652nd player to score 7,000 career points.  

Gilgeous-Alexander came into the evening with 6,981 career points, so he only needed 19 to reach the milestone.  

Gilgeous-Alexander is off to a fantastic start to the year, averaging 30.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.4 steals per contest while shooting 53.8% from the field and 35.8% from the three-point range in 14 games. 

The Thunder are 11-4 in their first 15 games, which has them as the second seed in the Western Conference.  

They are in the middle of a six-game winning streak and are 8-2 over their previous ten games. 

Most recently, the Thunder defeated the Chicago Bulls by a score of 116-102. 

Gilgeous-Alexander had 40 points, five rebounds, 12 assists, one steal and three blocks while shooting 11/19 from the field and 1/3 from the three-point range in 37 minutes of playing time. 

Following the 76ers, the Thunder will play their next game against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Tuesday evening. 

Gilgeous-Alexander was the 11th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Kentucky and is in his sixth season in the league. 

He spent his rookie season with the Los Angeles Clippers and is in his fifth playing for Oklahoma City. 

His career averages are 21.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.3 steals per contest in 325 games.
