Significant News About Ja Morant On Wednesday

Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant did not make one of the three All-NBA Teams for the 2023 season.

On Wednesday evening, the 2022-23 All-NBA teams were released.

Being named to an All-NBA team has massive implications on several players' max contracts due to their ability to get a SuperMax for significantly more money.

Earlier in the day, ESPN's Bobby Marks reported that Ja Morant's five-year contract would be worth $39 million more if he made an All-NBA Team.

Now that Morant has officially been left off the three teams, his contract will be five years, $194 million (as opposed to the potential $233 million he could have gotten).

Via Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian: "Ja Morant did not make an all-NBA team. His contract will stay at $194 million, instead of bumping to $233 million."

Morant finished the regular season with exceptional averages of 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 46.6% from the field.

The former Murray State star also led the Memphis Grizzlies to the second seed in the Western Conference for the second straight season (they went 51-31).

That said, Morant missed time during the year due to off-court issues.

Despite not getting the SuperMax, he still has one of the most lucrative deals in the league at just 23 years old.

If he continues to play at this level for another five years, he will likely get another max deal that will make him one of the highest-paid players in NBA history.

The Grizzlies lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
