Taylor Jenkins Spoke About Ja Morant Before The Grizzlies Played The Warriors

Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins spoke about Ja Morant before they host the Golden State Warriors.

On Thursday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies are hosting the Golden State Warriors in Tennessee.

They will be playing their third straight game without All-Star point guard Ja Morant, who is away from the team.

Last Saturday, he was seen in an alleged social media post appearing to hold a gun.

Following the viral video, the Grizzlies announced that Morant would be away from the team for two games and, on Wednesday, announced that he would be away for at least another four games.

Before they play the Warriors on Thursday, head coach Taylor Jenkins spoke about Morant (video via Clayton Collier of ABC24 Memphis).

Jenkins: "I can't share details. There's definitely steps that are gonna have to be met personally and professionally as he deals with some stuff personally to get better. And then obviously, the expectations on the team, he's gonna have some things that he's gonna have to clear to know what the expectations are when he does return. He's out at least the next four games, I know everyone wants to know what's this gonna be, it's the hot topic for sure, but he's taking time, his responsibility to get better; personally, that's a big factor in this. And then also as his responsibility to the team is something that we're addressing with him, that he's fully on board and been communicative with our group."

Morant had been in the middle of an excellent season with averages of 27.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 8.2 assists per contest.

Right now, the Grizzlies are tied for the second seed in the Western Conference with a 38-26 record in 64 games.
