Toronto Raptors Officially Sign 10-Year NBA Veteran

The Toronto Raptors have officially signed Dennis Schroder.

Dennis Schroder has been a reliable point guard for the previous ten seasons in the NBA.

The former first-round pick is coming off a year where he averaged 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.5% from the field in 66 games for the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Wednesday, the Toronto Raptors officially announced that they had signed Schroder.

Via The Raptors: "Welcome to Toronto, Dennis Schröder!

#WeTheNorth"

In addition to the Lakers, Schroder has also spent time with the Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder and Atlanta Hawks.

His career averages are 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest while shooting 43.4% from the field and 33.7% from the three-point range in 687 regular season games (he has also appeared in 68 NBA playoff games).

On June 30, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Schroder's deal is for two years and $26 million.

Via Wojnarowski: "Free agent G Dennis Schroder has agreed to a two-year, $26M deal with the Toronto Raptors, agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN."

The Raptors won the 2019 NBA Championship over the Golden State Warriors but have only won just one playoff series since their title.

This past year, they were the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-41 record and lost to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament.

Over the offseason, they lost starting point guard Fred VanVleet, who signed a contract with the Houston Rockets.

Therefore, Schroder has a chance to play a significant role with the Raptors next season.
