On Wednesday evening, the Chicago Bulls played their first game of the 2023-24 regular season when they hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder at the United Center.

The Bulls did not have a good night and lost by a score of 124-104 (they lost the fourth quarter by 11 points).

After the game, two-time All-Star Zach LaVine met with the media and shared a brutally honest statement.

LaVine: "Wasn't a great showing from us. Didn't shoot the ball well. Don't feel like we played with enough heart. That's on us. It's a terrible way to come out to start the season."

LaVine finished is night with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes of playing time.

However, he shot just 4/16 from the field and 2/9 from the three-point range.

DeMar DeRozan led the team with 20 points in 33 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Thunder were led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who opened up the season with a fantastic 31 points, five rebounds, ten assists, one steal and two blocks in 36 minutes.

The Thunder shot an impressive 54.9% from the field and 48.7% from the three-point range, while the Bulls shot 41.5% from the field and 28.6% from the three-point range.

The Bulls will play their next game on Friday evening when they host the Toronto Raptors back at the United Center.

As for the Thunder, they will stay on the road and face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Ohio (also on Friday).

Both teams lost in the play-in tournament last season.
