Opinion: This Player Will Win The 3-Point Contest
NBA All-Star weekend is currently taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah, and on Saturday night, there will be the annual 3-Point Contest.
Who Are The Participants?
- Buddy Hield (Indiana Pacers)
- Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
- Tyler Herro (Miami Heat)
- Lauri Markkanen (Utah Jazz)
- Julius Randle (New York Knicks)
- Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)
- Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers)
- Kevin Huerter (Sacramento Kings)
I believe that Kevin Huerter will be the winner of the 2023 three-point contest.
Why?
Huerter is the perfect kind of player for the event.
The former Maryland star is an excellent spot-up shooter who can get hot in a hurry.
Right now, he is shooting a career-high 39.2% from the three-point range and making 2.6 threes per contest.
The 24-year-old has made 5+ three-pointers in seven different games this season and plays composed under pressure.
During Game 7 in the second round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs, Huerter had 27 points on 2/4 shooting from the three-point range (leading the Hawks to a win on the road over the Philadelphia 76ers, which advanced them to the Eastern Conference Finals).
The biggest thing for the 3-Point Contest is to stay consistent, even if there are stretches where a few shots in a row are missed.
Who Are The Most Recent Winners?
- 2022: Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves)
- 2021: Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors)
- 2020: Buddy Hield (Sacramento Kings)
- 2019: Joe Harris (Brooklyn Nets)
- 2018: Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns)
- 2017: Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets)
The NBA All-Star Saturday Night events will begin at 8 P.M. Eastern Time on TNT.
