3 NBA Teams That Should Trade For Paul George

I believe the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks should consider making a trade for Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George.

On Thursday evening, the 2023 NBA Draft will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

With one of the biggest days of the offseason on the horizon, there have been many rumors around the league.

Recently, Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported an intriguing detail via his newsletter on Substack

Via Stein in his article on The Stein Line: "League sources tell The Stein Line that the LA Clippers have left various rival teams with the impression through their Draft Week conversations that they are, at a minimum, attempting to gauge Paul George's trade value and, to hear some describe it, giving real consideration to the idea of disassembling the Kawhi Leonard/George tandem."

I believe that three teams should consider trading for George.

Who?

  1. Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks have been to the NBA Playoffs in each of the previous three seasons. In 2021, the franchise made the Eastern Conference Finals, but they have lost in the first round in the two seasons since. With superstar Trae Young already on the team, a player like George can help them win an NBA Championship next season. In addition, the Hawks have many talented players on the roster, such as De'Andre Hunter, Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela and John Collins, that could help the Clippers remain competitive.
  2. Golden State Warriors: The Warriors have won the NBA Championship four times (and been to the NBA Finals six times) over the previous nine seasons. That said, the roster is aging, and will need as much help as they can to get at least one more title. Draymond Green is entering free agency, and Jordan Poole has a lucrative contract that could help facilitate a deal. In addition, they have several other young players, such as Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, that could be used to gain more assets to acquire a superstar like George.
  3. New York Knicks: The Knicks made the second round of the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2013 season, and Jalen Brunson has proven to be a rising star in the league. Therefore, it may be time for them to add a legitimate superstar to make a push for a title. With Julius Randle, RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson on the roster, the Knicks could have enough to entice the Clippers.

George is 33 years old and entering his fifth season with the Clippers.

The eight-time All-Star has been in the NBA for 13 seasons and also spent time with the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
