A Trade The Chicago Bulls And San Antonio Spurs Should Consider

I believe the San Antonio Spurs should trade for Lonzo Ball (Chicago Bulls).

Lonzo Ball was the second pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of UCLA.

He has shown flashes of All-Star potential during his career and helped the Chicago Bulls get off to a 22-13 start to the 2021-22 season.

However, the 26-year-old hasn't played in a game in over two years due to injury.

With Coby White emerging as a legitimate starting point guard, I believe the Bulls should trade Ball, and the San Antonio Spurs are a team that could take the risk.

Why?

At this point, Ball has little trade value, and the Bulls would benefit from moving his salary off the books.

He has a player option for the 2024-25 season, so he'll likely be under contract for one more year.

The Spurs are the worst team in the Western Conference, with a 10-38 record in their first 48 games.

They are in rebuilding mode and have missed the NBA playoffs in each of the previous four seasons.

However, the Spurs have Victor Wembanyama, who is off to an incredible start to his rookie season.

The 20-year-old has averages of 20.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.2 blocks per contest while shooting 46.5% from the field and 30.1% from the three-point range.

I believe that the Spurs need to make sure they have several talented point guards on the roster for Wembanyama.

With where they are as a franchise, they are in a position to take a chance on Ball.

In the hypothetical trade, the Spurs could send the Bulls several players to make the salary work and the teams could swap second-round picks.
