Blockbuster Trade The Hawks And Clippers Should Consider

I believe the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers should consider making a trade.

The Los Angeles Clippers have one of the most talented rosters in the NBA, but they have dealt with injuries and are coming off a season where they lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.

Paul George is going into his 14th season in the NBA (fifth with the Clippers) and is 33 years old.

I believe the Clippers should try to get a massive trade package for the eight-time NBA All-Star, and the Atlanta Hawks are the perfect team for him to land with.

Why?

George is still among the best players in the league, but he has been unable to play in more than 56 regular season games in a year during his tenure with Los Angeles.

The Clippers have also only been able to get to the Conference Finals one time in that span.

Therefore, it may be time for both parties to get a change of scenery, and the Hawks could give the Clippers an impressive package.

To make the salaries work, the Hawks could give the Clippers (former fourth-overall pick) De'Andre Hunter and Clint Capela.

Hunter is only 25 and Capela has been to the Conference Finals three times, as he is a significant contributor to winning.

In addition, the Hawks have young players such as A.J. Griffin, Jalen Johnson and Kobe Bufkin that could potentially entice the Clippers.

I believe that a big three of Trae Young, Dejounte Murray and Paul George would make the Hawks a legitimate contender to win the 2023 NBA Championship.

Meanwhile, the Clippers would add more depth around superstar Kawhi Leonard and become a deeper (and younger team).

Last year, George averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest.
