Boston Celtics Interested In 5x NBA All-Star?

According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, the Boston Celtics were among the teams who attended John Wall's workout.

John Wall is coming off a season where he averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest in 34 games for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The five-time NBA All-Star is a free agent, and Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and the NBA on TNT had previously reported that Wall was hosting a workout for teams in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On Sunday, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reported that the Boston Celtics were among the teams who attended Wall's workout.

Via Iko: "Veteran point guard John Wall held a private workout on Sunday with multiple teams — including the Boston Celtics and Portland Trailblazers — in attendance. The five-time All-Star is ramping up efforts in hopes of a return to the NBA."

In addition to the Clippers, Wall has also spent time with the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards (he was the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Kentucky).

At one point, the 32-year-old was among the best point guards in the NBA.

His career averages are 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field in 647 regular season games (he has also played in 37 NBA playoff games).

As for the Celtics, they have been to the Eastern Conference Finals five times over the previous seven seasons (they also made the NBA Finals in 2022).

This past year, they were the second seed in the east and lost to the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Conference Finals.

Over the offseason, they traded away starting guard Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies in a three-team trade that landed them 2018 All-Star Kristaps Porzingis.

Therefore, a player like Wall could be an excellent addition to the roster for depth.
