The Denver Nuggets are coming off a sensational season where they won their first NBA Championship.

They finished the regular season as the first seed in the Western Conference and defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Playoffs (only one series went further than five games).

A significant reason for their success was the play of Bruce Brown, who did an excellent job of playing a complimentary role to Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr.

The former Miami star averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 48.3% from the field and 35.8% from the three-point range during the regular season.

However, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that Brown will become an unrestricted free agent.

Via Charania: "Denver Nuggets G/F Bruce Brown Jr. is declining his $6.8 million player option for the 2023-24 season and will become a free agent, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Brown, a key member of the Nuggets title, faces decision of Denver return in free agency versus deal elsewhere."

Brown was the 42nd pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and has also had stints with the Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets.

The 26-year-old is entering his sixth season in the NBA and will likely be among the most coveted role players in free agency.

In addition to Brown, the Nuggets will have seven other free agents this summer.
