Los Angeles Lakers Reportedly Interested In Recent Dallas Mavericks Player

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Lakers have an interest in Christian Wood.

Christian Wood is coming off a very solid season where he averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 51.5% from the field and 37.6% from the three-point range in 67 games for the Dallas Mavericks.

Currently, Wood is a free agent and can sign with any team in the league.

On Sunday, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are a team with an interest in the 27-year-old.

Via Buha: "The Lakers are “actively” seeking another center to shore up their frontcourt.

Centers Christian Wood and Bismack Biyombo are in consideration for LA’s 14th roster spot, sources told @TheAthleticNBA."

In addition to the Mavs, Wood has also spent time with the Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Pelicans, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers.

His career averages are 14.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 51.8% from the field and 37.9% from the three-point range in 289 regular season games.

Wood has never played in an NBA playoff game, but he has been able to put up very respectable numbers over his seven seasons playing in the league.

As for the Lakers, they are coming off a season where they were the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record.

After beating the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in tournament, they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

They made the Western Conference Finals but were swept by the Denver Nuggets.
