Mavs And Hawks Reportedly "Discussed The Idea" Of This Trade

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks "discussed the idea" of a trade.

On Monday evening, the Denver Nuggets won the 2023 NBA Championship over the Miami Heat, so the league's attention will now shift toward the NBA Draft and free agency.

The Draft will be held on June 22, and many teams typically make trades during the night.

Therefore, rumors will swirl around the league in the coming week.

On Thursday, Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reported an intriguing detail about the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks.

Via Fisher's article on Yahoo! Sports: "The Mavericks and Hawks, for example, discussed the idea of swapping Dāvis Bertāns and the No. 10 pick for John Collins and the No. 15 selection, sources said, although those talks do not appear to have progressed at this time."

Collins is a very talented power forward that is coming off a year where he averaged 13.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 50.8% from the field.

He is only 25 years old and entering his seventh season in the league.

The former Wake Forest star was the 19th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, and he has spent his entire career with Atlanta.

Collins has helped lead the Hawks to the NBA Playoffs in each of the last three seasons.

In 2021, they made the Eastern Conference Finals, and over the past two seasons, they lost in the first round.

As for Bertans, he is an elite shooter and averaged 4.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 39.0% from the three-point range last season.
