New York Knicks Reportedly Interested In Boston Celtics Player

According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, the New York Knicks are among five teams interested in Grant Williams.

Grant Williams is coming off a solid season where he averaged 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 45.4% from the field and 39.5% from the three-point range in 79 games for the Boston Celtics.

The former Tennessee star was the 22nd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and has spent his entire four-year career with Boston.

He is currently a restricted free agent, and Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports that the New York Knicks are one of five teams interested in signing Williams.

Via Weiss' article on The Athletic: "Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, New York and Washington are all still in the mix, according to league sources, with Williams eligible to sign an offer sheet on July 6."

Since Williams is a restricted free agent, the Celtics can match any offer from another team.

The 24-year-old has been a solid role player and helped the Celtics reach the Eastern Conference Finals three times (and the 2022 NBA Finals).

In just four seasons, Williams has played in an astonishing 61 NBA Playoff games, so if he were to join another team, they would be adding a player with impressive experience.

A team like the Knicks is intriguing because they have been to the NBA Playoffs in two out of the previous three seasons, and Williams could play an even more significant role.

His career averages are 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 45.1% from the field and 37.9% from the three-point range in 288 regular season games.
