Shocking Report About Zion Williamson's Future With New Orleans Pelicans

Bill Simmons shared an intriguing report about Zion Williamson's future with the New Orleans Pelicans.

On Thursday, the 2023 NBA Draft will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The night typically features many trades and is one of the biggest days of the offseason.

Since the offseason began, an abundance of trade rumors have been swirling.

One recent report comes from Bill Simmons (on The Bill Simmons Podcast), who reported an intriguing tidbit about Zion Williamson's future with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Via Simmons: "The Zion thing is a real, real, real subplot. I had somebody tell me yesterday, that I trust, that he will not be on that team on Thursday."

Williamson was the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft after a stellar season in college playing for Duke.

He has spent his first four seasons with the Pelicans, and when he's been on the floor, the 22-year-old has been among the best players in the NBA.

However, Williamson continues to miss time due to injuries.

This past year, he only played in 29 regular season games after missing the entire 2021-22 season.

Williamson averaged a sensational 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 60.8% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range in 2022-23.

The Pelicans were the ninth seed in the Western Conference and lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first game of the play-in tournament.

In 2022, they made the NBA Playoffs and lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round.

That said, Williamson has yet to play in a postseason game.
