Headlines broke a few weeks back that Dane Cameron and Matt Campbell would be swapping spots, featuring Cameron moving back to IMSA full-time while Campbell would be moving over to the World Endurance Championship.

Many people were expecting this move to occur but for Campbell, it couldn't be better timing to jump series.

"I think jumping across will be a relatively easy move," says Campbell on the new venture. "I've done four- or five years full time in WEC. So, I think that should be an easier transition, let's say.

"Next year, there's a lot of changes in WEC as well with obviously the removal of LMP2 (in IMSA). A lot more cars in the top class and then the new GT3LM category. So, I think it will be a really exciting era. It's a good year to transition over.

"And in saying that, to be able to compete at Le Mans in the top class for the first time, it is a really great opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

"Obviously, they've not had the easiest of years, I think we can say in WEC, but I feel like next year, second year running, there's a lot bigger push for sure and looking at the bigger picture. So, I think jumping across, I'm excited for what's coming."

Campbell, who found success last season in IMSA with Team Penske's #7 entry's win at Road America, is a proven veteran. And given his success in the past, should fit in quite well with Porsche Penske's WEC operation.

However, with the grid expanding and new manufacturers such as Alpine, Lamborghini and Isotta Fraschini coming in, there is a new feel heading into Year 2 in the Hypercar/GTP era.

"Yeah, I think it's a really exciting year to be able to transition across," Campbell said. "When you look at the depth within the field and across all the manufacturers and in the top class with so many full-time or full-season entries.

"I'm sure at Le Mans there'll be a lot and hopefully some more of our compatriots coming across from the IMSA championship as well."
