Remember the old TV racing series, "And They Walked Away"?

That symbolizes much of the mayhem during Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

There were several wrecks, including the first-ever Big One for Daniel Hemric, who went upside-down, but emerged fine, as did most other drivers.

But one of the scariest episodes of Saturday's Ag-Pro 300 Xfinity Series race occurred on the backstretch of Lap 47, coming out of Turn 2 when Jade Buford, Dexter Stacey and Blaine Perkins were all involved in a multi-car wreck.

Perkins’ Our Motorsports Chevrolet made contact with the front of Buford’s Big Machine Racing Chevy, sending Perkins flying into the air, returning to the racing surface very hard and then barrel-rolled six times before coming to a stop.

It took him a while, but Perkins finally emerged from his car under his own power and walked to a waiting ambulance, receiving a standing ovation and massive applause of appreciation from the fans in attendance.

After the wreck, the race was subsequently placed under a red-flag stoppage for about 12 minutes as debris was cleaned up.

Here's video of the incident, courtesy of Fox Sports, which captured all the mayhem.

Thankfully, Perkins was alright, as were the other drivers. But medical staff at the speedway decided to airlift Perkins via helicopter to a local hospital for further examination and observation. But initial reports were that he is okay.
