F1 News: Fernando Alonso Confirms Future In Sport - "A Role Outside The Car"

Fernando Alonso remains committed to Formula 1, eyeing another world championship with Aston Martin, but isn't afraid of taking a step back behind the pit wall.

Fernando Alonso, leading the Aston Martin team this season, remains determined to clinch another world championship title. The 42-year-old racing veteran sees a potential future both behind and beyond the wheel in the sport.

Over twenty years of relentless racing, Fernando Alonso still retains his insatiable hunger for victory. This seasoned Spaniard, now steering Aston Martin to newer heights in the Formula 1 circuit, is firmly set on one goal: clinching another world championship title.

The 42-year-old's experience and passion for the sport remain undiminished. Aston Martin has significantly benefited from Alonso's leadership, carving its path upwards in the highly competitive F1 space.

Alonso's belief in his abilities is stronger than ever. He perceives himself as a more polished version of his younger self – the one that celebrated his 2006 championship win. He's confident that if pitted against the Alonso from 2006, today's Alonso would come out on top, courtesy of the minor nuances he's mastered over time.

“I know I don't have forever, but as long as there's a one per cent chance of winning the title again, I'll keep going,” Alonso mentioned in a candid conversation with Marca.

The racer isn't just fixated on winning from behind the wheel; he’s open to roles beyond driving. He asserted:

“If it doesn't work out as a driver, maybe it will work out in a role outside the car. If I then win the world championship, that would also give me satisfaction, because then I could say I helped build it.”

Alonso’s journey in the world of F1 has witnessed dramatic evolutions, especially in technology. He nostalgically recalls the days of 2001.

“We still had an ignition switch in a largely analogue car. But more than two decades later, I see how technology is changing the game,” he continued.

“If I had to race against the Alonso of 2006, I'd beat him exactly because of those details!”

All eyes are now set on what 2024 holds for Alonso. His contract with Aston Martin lasts until the conclusion of next season. The unveiling and following performance of the AMR24 car will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in deciding whether Alonso extends his more than two-decade-long journey in the sport.
