Barcelona Bounce Back From Clasico Loss By Dominating Villarreal As Robert Lewandowski Scores Twice

Robert Lewandowski scored his 15th and 16th goals for Barcelona in a dominant 3-0 win over Villarreal on Thursday night.

Ansu Fati was also on target for Barcelona, who had 70% of the possession at Camp Nou and recorded 16 shots to Villarreal's five.

Fati was responsible for seven of Barca's shots, while Lewandowski's two goals came from just three attempts.

Barca's win came just four days after a crushing 3-1 Clasico defeat at rivals Real Madrid.

Thursday's result left Barca second in La Liga, with 25 points from 10 matches.

Real, who won 3-0 at Elche 24 hours earlier, are top with 28 points.

While Barca's attackers made the headlines, the performance of midfielder Frenkie de Jong earned a standing ovation from fans at Camp Nou.

De Jong won all 10 of his duels against Villarreal and was a strong contender for the man of the match award.

Sergio Busquets had struggled during Sunday's Clasico, so De Jong's performance served as evidence that we could be witnessing a changing of the guard in Barca's holding midfield position.
