Birmingham Stallions Shore Up Defensive Depth with Pair of Signings, Including Former Green Bay Packers Pass Rusher

The Birmingham Stallions signed defensive end Jonathan Garvin and outside linebacker Maalik Hall to UFL contracts on Thursday.

For the second straight day, the Birmingham Stallions focused on defense for their free agency signings. The team brought in defensive end Jonathan Garvin and outside linebacker Maalik Hall on Thursday.

Garvin was a former seventh-round selection of the Green Bay Packers in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the Packers, posting 38 tackles, two pass deflections and 1.5 sacks. In his three seasons with the Miami Hurricanes, he racked up 106 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one block in 38 games.

Hall was released by the New York Jets last month after spending the 2023 season on injured reserve. He played five seasons at Southeastern Oklahoma State, finishing his career with 154 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, three pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one block in 43 games.

The Stallions also added cornerback Isaiah Zuber on Wednesday to add depth to the secondary. Hall is most likely the replacement for fellow linebacker Chris Orr, who officially retired from football on Wednesday.

UFL teams have one week to make final roster decisions before they need to be at 50 players by March 23.
