Houston Roughnecks Place Former Kansas State Defensive End on IR

The Houston Roughnecks sent defensive end Reggie Walker to the injured reserve list on Thursday.

The movement at defensive line for the Houston Roughnecks isn't slowing down yet, as the team placed defensive end Reggie Walker on injured reserve on Thursday. His injury has not been revealed.

Walker spent last season in the USFL with coach CJ Johnson and the Houston Gamblers as one of the team’s top pass rushers. He finished the year with 23 tackles and four sacks.

In 2022, Walker had a short stint with the Edmonton Elks of the CFL before being placed on the suspended list. He appeared in one NFL game with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020, producing a tackle in 17 defensive snaps.

Walker was a standout at Kansas State over four seasons, compiling 140 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, five pass deflections, nine forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one block in 50 career games. His honors in college include an honorable mention for the All-Big 12 team in 2019, Second Team All-Big 12 in 2017 and Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2016.

The loss of Walker hurts the depth of the defensive line for the Roughnecks, especially considering his experience with the defensive scheme. There are still plenty of talented pass rushers on the team, with Adam Rodriguez and Ethan Westbrooks both having experience in the USFL as dependable defensive ends.

UFL teams will cut rosters down to 50 players on March 23.
