The Memphis Showboats make a change at running back as they switch out backs after one week of training camp. Kennedy Brooks was released, with the Showboats signing Titus Swen on Saturday.

Brooks was selected by the Showboats in the UFL Dispersal Draft in January. He played the last two seasons in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles. While he didn’t play in the regular season, Brooks rushed for 120 yards in the preseason in 2022 and 2023.

During four seasons at Oklahoma, Brooks rushed for 3,320 yards and 31 touchdowns in 38 games. He earned a USA Today Freshman All-American selection in 2018 and a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2019.

Swen played three seasons in college football for the Wyoming Cowboys. In 33 games, he ran for 2,161 yards and 16 touchdowns. His best season came in 2022 when he rushed for 1,039 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named to the second-team All-Mountain West team by Pro Football Focus.

Throughout the past two years, the Showboats have gone through their share of changes, starting as the Tampa Bay Bandits in 2022 as part of the USFL. The following year, the team moved to Memphis to become the Showboats. Todd Haley coached the team during those two years before former New Orleans Breakers coach John DeFilippo came aboard ahead of the inaugural UFL season.

The Showboats start their season on the road on March 31 against the Houston Roughnecks.
