Here are the candidates for the WaFd Bank Idaho High School Athlete of the Week for August. 24-30 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Voting will conclude on Thursday at 11:59 p.m and the winner will be announced Friday morning. Uriah Chavez, Lake City RB: Chavez exploded for a 77-yard touchdown to solidify a season-opening win over Lakeland at home, 26-20.

Landon Cheney, Nampa Christian QB: Cheney had a hand in five touchdowns to open the season in blowout fashion. He completed 15 of 17 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns in the air. He got his fifth TD on the ground. 

Henry Clark, Melba QB: Completed 13 of his 20 pass attempts for 208 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-34 loss to Fruitland.

Santiago Diaz, Vallivue RB: Logged 106 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on 18 carries in a 21-20 win over Twin Falls.

Dallin Orme, South Fremont WR: Orme had 8 receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-28 win at Timberlake High School.

Cruz Hepburn, Lewiston RB: The University of Washington baseball commit flashed his speed on the gridiron, taking a kick return 86 yards for touchdown to give the Bengals a two-score lead with under 10 minutes left. Also rushed for 89 yards. 

Kash Lang, Lewiston QB: Rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns and threw for 189 yards and another score in a 37-30 win over the defending 4A champions Kuna. He also picked off a pass on defense.

Brigham Lee, Sugar-Salem WR/S: He was in on the “gutsy” final defensive stand that lifted the defending 3A state champs to a 13-7 victory over the No. 6 team in 4A, Century. He also caught a screen and bolted by defenders into the redzone to set up Sugar-Salem’s game-winning touchdown. 

Colten Meyer, Horseshoe Bend QB/DB: The junior passed for three touchdowns and 244 yards total, ran for 85 more and even had an interception on the defensive end in Horseshoe Bend’s 22-6 win over Wilder. 

Brett Spencer, Weiser ATH: Accounted for four total touchdowns — two in the air, two on the ground — in Weiser’s 41-7 win over Buhl.

Caden Young, Emmett QB: Accounted for 235 total yards and rushed for two touchdowns in a 28-21 loss to Homedale. 

Chris Irvin, Lake City QB: Irvin was 19 of 27 for 296 passing yards and 2 TDs in a 26-20 win over Lakeland.

Kieren Valora, Madison QB: Valora was 25 of 46 for 297 yards and 2 passing TDs. He also rushed for 111 yards and a score.

Cameron Porter, Madison WR: Porter had 12 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Tre Kofe, Hillcrest RB: Kofe rushed 11 times for 205 yards and a TD. Also caught a TD pass.

Kurtis Adkinson, Gooding QB: Gooding was 14 of 21 for 199 yards and two TDs. He also rushed 30 times for 120 yards and a TD.

Sean Austin, Kuna QB: Austin was 35 of 50 for 413 yards and three TDs.

Tiger Adolpho, Rigby QB: Adolpho was 9 of 10 passing for 220 yards and a TD.

Brayden Stapleton, Deary QB: Stapleton had a monster game, rushing 23 times for 398 yards and eight TDs. He finished with nine total TDs.
